If Sherem’s experience with the Spirit was indeed expiatory, why did he die? If he had an experience comparable to those of Paul and Alma2, why did he not become a preacher of the truth? Although we do not know the answer, the Lord’s unquestioned ability to redeem Paul and Alma supports the suggestion that Sherem’s confession was part of his redemption. Yahweh did not need Sherem in the same way that he needed Paul and Alma.
