Literary: Jacob begins his prophesying not with prophecy, but praise. In form, verses 3 and 4 are closer to a hymn of praise than a prophecy. The beginning of his glorification of the Lord's work is a pronouncement of blessing upon those who labor in vineyard of the last days, and condemnation of those whose lives have taken them away from the Lord (those who are "cast out"). As the major preparatory event for the last days, Jacob is praising the Lord for this final effort.
