How do we apply the allegory of Zenos to our own lives? The servant (prophet) brings other servants (us) to go into the vineyard (the earth) for the last time (dispensation of the fulness of times) to labor (do missionary work) that we might have joy in our fruit (bringing souls unto Christ—convert baptisms) until finally the season ends and the earth is burned. It is our duty to preach the gospel to every creature (see Mormon 9:22). The Prophet Joseph Smith declared, “After all that has been said, [our] greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. by Joseph Fielding Smith [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Company, 1938], 112). Remember that we are the missionaries who will prune the vineyard for the last time by sharing the gospel. We can have joy in bringing souls to Christ.
