In this campaign the Lord of the vineyard labored with his servants -- and this may have reference to the Father's direct participation with the Savior in ushering in of this last dispensation of the latter days. In consequence of the mighty effort put forth by the Lord of the vineyard and his servants, the parable says the natural branches would begin to grow and thrive exceedingly.
There was a further prediction that as the wild branches were pruned out, the top of the tree would be kept in balance and equal to the strength of the roots. This is thought to mean that the organization and administration of the Church in the latter days would be kept within the boundaries depicted by the scriptures. Several times since the Restoration of the gospel, the modern prophets have taken steps to keep the Church ritual, the buildings, and even the structural programming from becoming overly technical, complex, ornate, or otherwise beyond the pattern described by the Lord in his revelations.
