“Me, a Prophet of the Lord”
The following are the words of Zenos, words which bespeak a confidence born of the Spirit; they are words spoken by one who knows who he is and whose he is. Zenos is without either false pretense or false modesty. “We properly make a distinction between ’a prophet’ and ’the Prophet.’ In our day we testify of many who are prophets while normally reserving the phrase ’the Prophet’ for Joseph Smith, who stands at the head of our dispensation. Zenos was of such greatness that he is properly referred to as ’the prophet.’ ” (Commentary 1: 147.)
