“Despised the Words of Plainness”
A characteristic of spiritual maturity is the confidence to speak and teach principles of truth with simplicity and plainness. One who possesses a broad and elevated perspective of the plan of salvation desires to focus upon and stress fundamental truths, saving verities which tower in importance over trivial things. Those, on the other hand, who specialize in some phase of the gospel; who set themselves up as a light and a guide in some particular field of study; and who dissipate their energies and proselyte their gospel hobbies with an unhealthy and unholy zeal-these are evidencing their spiritual immaturity and their spiritual instability. They are walking in slippery paths and their course in life is not pleasing to that God who delights in plainness.
