“Despise Not the Revelations of God”

W. Cleon Skousen

However, in spite of these marvelous powers which the members of the priesthood enjoyed among the early Nephites, Jacob wanted us to know that the Lord gave them ample evidence of their own individual weaknesses or limitations so that they would always be aware that it was by the grace and the great condescension of God that they were able to do these things.

Jacob marveled at the ways of the Lord. He saw that it was absolutely impossible to search out the depths, powers and procedures of God in accomplishing his great purposes unless these were revealed to man. Jacob emphasizes that no matter how shocking or contrary to human imagination God's ways turned out to be, man must not despise these great revelations in which these great truths are disclosed.
