Redaction: Jacob has very clearly ended not only a sermon, but a section. We cannot tell how much time, if any, passed from his writing what we have as chapter 1 and chapters 2 and 3. We may speculate, however, on the finality of this particular ending that Jacob supposed that some time would pass before he wrote again. This verse is colophon-like in its declaration of author. It would appear that he did not have anything immediate to say. He also clearly had more to say, as this is not a final testament.
