Jacob implores his fellow colleagues to purge their lives of all immorality and to protect and foster the happiness of their chaste women. Plural marriage is not sanctioned; such a practice can only come at the command of God if He chooses to “raise up seed” unto Himself (verse 30). The concubines and whoredoms of the ancient world, specifically the acts of David and Solomon in this regard, are an abomination in the sight of the Lord.
