Jacob doesn’t jump right out of the starting block and hit them over the head by saying, "You guys are all awful." Instead, he says, "I know you’re beginning to …" There are lots of things we can do to help someone who is having problems, but one of them is to put them in a good mood, build a positive relationship with them to where they will want to listen to inspired counsel. If they feel accused, if you make them feel defensive, if you come on too strong right away, then they will likely either disengage or push back. I think that Jacob isn’t being condescending here. He is trying to help these people want to see their problems.
