“He Anointed a Man to Be a King”
From ancient times it was the practice and tradition among the people of the Lord, at times when they had a monarchical government, to anoint their kings. The anointing, a symbol of the outpouring of the Spirit, was a sacramental charge, one in which the king effectually covenanted to lead his people in righteousness. Prophets, priests, and kings-all of which were anointed-thus became messianic testimonies of the King of kings.
