“And You and I Shall Stand Face to Face Before His Bar”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Nephi, as with all the holy prophets since the world began, will stand at the judgment bar of God as a witness against those who rejected his testimony. Moroni used similar language in sealing his testimony of the Book of Mormon, saying, “I soon go to rest in the paradise of God, until my spirit and body shall again reunite, and I am brought forth triumphant through the air, to meet you before the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah, the Eternal Judge of both quick and dead” (Moroni 10:34).

“You and I Shall Stand Face to Face Before His Bar”

Christ was rejected by a nation professing loyalty to the Law of Moses. To those rejecting him he said, “Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?” (John 5:45-47.) Similarly, Joseph Smith is rejected by many who profess loyalty to the Bible. Well might the Prophet say to them, “Do not think I will accuse you to the Father: there are others that accuse you, even Moses, Isaiah, and Ezekiel, in whom ye trusted. For had ye believed the Bible prophets, ye would have believed me: for they wrote of me.”
