As we hearken to the Lord, we not only listen but act accordingly. Hearken means to listen and obey. The word hearken occurs hundreds of times in the scriptures. Many of those references refer to us and our willingness to listen to and obey the word of the Lord (see 1 Nephi 7:9). Do we hearken to the words of Christ (see D&C 84:43–46)? What do the words of Christ teach us (see 2 Nephi 32:3)?
Nephi reminds us that the words of Christ “teach all men that they should do good” (2 Nephi 33:10).
