“It Persuadeth Them to Do Good”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The test of discernment given by the Savior was that “by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:20). To Joseph Smith he said: “Put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good- yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit” (D&C 11:12). The fruits of Nephi’s writings evidence that they were from God. They encouraged men to do good and to live righteously. They testified of the faith held by their fathers and witnessed that Jesus was the Christ. They gave hope to all who would endure in righteousness to the end and promised that the blessings of heaven would be theirs. (See Moroni 7:13-16.)
