Nephi is now an old man and this is the last chapter Nephi will write. In closing there are several things he wants to say.
Nephi says he never feels the written word has quite the impact of the spoken word, and therefore he feels inadequate in carving his thoughts on the gold plates. He says that when he speaks the Spirit makes him eloquent like the voice of an angel and he testifies to those who hear him that it is the truth.
