Verse 9 recalls the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:5) as well as the revelation called the Olive Leaf (D&C 88:17–18). Only the meek shall inherit the earth, which will become, in its celestialized state, the celestial kingdom for its inheritors and inhabitants. The wicked will be swept off. The time is quickly approaching when all inhabitants of the earth will have to declare themselves either for righteousness or against it and choose to become one of the meek or one of the wicked, causing a great division of the last days.
