Line Upon Line, Precept Upon Precept, Here a Little and There a Little

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

God is the master teacher. He endows us with truth in accordance with our capacity to receive: “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little (Isaiah 28:10, see also Isaiah 28:13; D&C 98:12; 128:21; Alma 12:9–11). We grow line upon line and precept upon precept—it is a process. As we hearken to the Lord’s precepts (listen to them and do them), we gain wisdom and then qualify to receive more. Let us be patient and diligent in the things of the Lord, and He will endow us with an increasing measure of truth and light. “And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things” (D&C 88:67).
