The scriptures record that the Prophet Joseph Smith obediently delivered the plates into the hands of the angel Moroni as commanded (see Joseph Smith–History 1:60). Why would the Lord take away the only tangible evidence that the plates existed? What benefits come to us as we accept the Lord’s will and engage the Book of Mormon on faith? What could be the consequences if people could see the plates and still choose to be disobedient?
