In the last days God’s “judgments will come upon the wicked after they have rejected the testimonies of the Church’s prophets and missionaries” and, like “the Babylonians, Romans, … after their day of might and dominance, will fade away as a dream vanishes during the night. … The nations that fight against Jerusalem and Zion will, in the end, have no more lasting satisfaction than does a hungry person who only dreams of eating” (Parry et al., Understanding Isaiah, 262–63).
