Nephi is now preparing to comment on the 29th chapter of Isaiah. He is excited about the coming forth of the book of Mormon and the restoration of the gospel in the latter days. But both he and Isaiah saw in vision how wicked the whole world would become before the restoration of the gospel occurred.
It was also difficult for Nephi to discuss the day of the Gentiles and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon without proclaiming some of the judgments of God that would be poured out upon the wicked in that dispensation.
