“And He Remembereth the Heathen”

W. Cleon Skousen

Nephi now itemizes the principal features of the ten commandments. Men should not murder, steal, profane God's name, commit adultery, lie, or have malice toward one's neighbor. Then Nephi pronounces the all-encompassing invitation of God to partake of the blessings he has prepared for his children. Nephi says: "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." The Jews were chosen in the pre-existence for their valiance whereas the Gentiles were the non-covenant spirits. But here on earth they are equal and all have an equal chance to go to the highest degree of glory.
