Verse 7 is a personal intercalation in the description of the future events. Nephi may be able to relate them, he may be able to cast them into a typological structure, but he cannot avoid his personal feelings of the reality of those future events. Nephi's understanding is not an abstract picture of a distant and therefore personally disjointed set of events. It is very personal, and the anguish in his soul for the lost is great.
