One of the difficulties of seeing a vision which sweeps across a couple of thousand years is the tendency to speak of it in terms of partial flashbacks. These often lack continuity since they treat history in huge chunks. This happens throughout this chapter.
The first flashback is the sensational appearance of Christ on the American continent in 34 A.D. All of this is actually described in the latter part of 3 Nephi.
