In the days of Nephi it was essential that the preachers of righteousness continually point the minds of their listeners toward the coming of Christ so that the Nephite people might recognize the limits and purposes of the Law.
In our own day it is perhaps even more necessary to rejoice preach, and prophesy of Christ so that men might have a constant reminder that peace and happiness here and eternal reward hereafter are not to be found in programs and procedures alone that philosophies of men, even those which are occasionally mingled with holy writ, are frequently at best deficient and at worst perverse; and that man, despite his supposed enlightened and ennobled status, has not the power to regenerate or renew himself. We preach of Christ so that all might know and acknowledge their human weaknesses and thereby realize that in him strength is to be found.
