Nephi continued speaking in unmistakable terms. He attested to three well-known events in Israelite history: (1) the Exodus from Egypt; (2) Moses’ healing of the people who looked to the serpent raised up on the pole: a type of the Messiah’s healing of the people through his being raised up on the cross and the people looking to him; and (3) Moses smiting the rock and bringing forth water: a type of the Rock of our salvation offering Living Water leading to eternal life. Those events were true, and “as the Lord God liveth,” salvation comes only in and through the name Jesus Christ.
