We worship God, the Eternal Father, in the name of his Only Begotten Son, by the power of the Holy Ghost. God is the ultimate object of our worship. “True worshippers,”
Jesus taught the Samaritan woman:
“Shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. For unto such hath God promised his Spirit.” (JST, John 4:25-26.)
Jacob, brother of Nephi, taught:
“For this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us. Behold, they believed in Christ and worshiped the Father in his name, and also we worship the Father in his name.”

A modern revelation likewise explained that God the Father
“created man, male and female, after his own image and in his own likeness, created he them; and gave unto them commandments that they should love and serve him, the only living and true God, and that he should be the only being whom they should worship.” In short, men must “repent and believe on the name of Jesus Christ, and worship the Father in his name, and endure in faith on his name to the end, or they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God.”
