“Nephi is speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, a destruction that is not recorded in the New Testament. The Jewish historian Josephus gives one of the most detailed accounts of the Roman siege: ‘Now, as soon as the army had no more people to slay or to plunder, because there remained none to be the objects of their fury (for they would not have spared any, had there remained any other work to be done), Caesar gave orders that they should now demolish the entire city and temple.’ The destruction of the Holy City led to the scattering of the Jewish people throughout the civilized world” (Black, 400 Questions and Answers, 107).
