We note, "destroyed from generation to generation." "Destroyed" is sometimes read, as if it could only mean "exterminated." But it is evident that a race cannot be exterminated more than once, and not from generation unto generation. "Destroyed," however, also means "brought to ruin," "overthrown," or even very much "damaged," as a dress torn or hopelessly soiled. In this sense we may say that a race can be "destroyed" from generation to generation, although it does not cease to exist. We note especially "destroyed" in verse 10.
