In this verse Nephi clarifies both what he intends to write and the reason for having included Isaiah. He declares that the prophecy he writes will be “according to my plainness.” He contrasts this with the difficulties in understanding Isaiah that he noted in verses 1–3. Isaiah prophesied, and Nephi has told his people that Isaiah (and all other scriptures) could be “likened” to their situation. Nephi will now provide his own prophecy to show how Isaiah’s prophecies relate to the future of the Nephites.
