Literature: The introduction of the two poems in 2 Nephi 24:1–4a tells us that Yahweh “will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land” (2 Ne. 24:1). At the end of the inserted poems, the text returns to prose, and echoes the theme of the introduction. Here also Yahweh “will rise up against them.” The fall of the king of Babylon will be so great that he will not have descendants who rule. Babylon will be ended.
