Isaiah relates the joy that will be associated with that future time when Israel will be restored. Remember that Nephi and his people are perpetually conscious of being strangers and wanderers in a foreign land (see 1 Nephi 17:23; Alma 13:23; 26:36), constantly embattled on all sides by their enemies, dreaming of a better world in the light of the glory of God. How uplifting must the words of Isaiah must be to these people, a branch of Israel broken off and yearning for reunion in the arms of the Lord.
