This song of praise will be sung in the day of Israel’s great restoration. The water that is drawn “out of the wells of salvation” is also promised by John the Revelator: “I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely” (Revelation 21:6). During his ministry Jesus told the woman of Samaria of living water: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:10, 14). Later, at the feast of tabernacles, he identified the water:
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) [John 7:37–39]
The Holy Ghost will “testify of [Christ]” (John 15:26), and will “teach you all things” (John 14:26). Those who drink freely will be led to eternal life.
