“Whose Arrows Shall Be Sharp and All Their Bows Bent”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

“Whose arrows are sharp and all their bows bent”—could this be an airplane from top or bottom view? Arrows, bows, horses, and prey depict war imagery. We sing about a battle that is raging in this world: “Behold! A Royal Army,” “Hope of Israel,” “Onward, Christian Soldiers,” “We Are All Enlisted,” and “We Are Marching On to Glory.”

“Prey” may mean converts. Note that the missionary lions are out to rescue the prey from their enemy, to carry them away to safety.

Darkness reigns because the children of light depart, and the Lord withholds his light because of wickedness.
