10 O ye wicked ones, enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for the fear of the Lord and the glory of his majesty shall smite thee.10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.11 And it shall come to pass that the lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. [2 Nephi 12:10–11]11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. [Isaiah 2:10–11]
The Book of Mormon phrase “O ye wicked ones” (v. 10) clearly identifies those who will be seeking to hide in the rocks and the dust for fear of the Lord and his glory. They will be compelled to be humble, not because of poverty but for their sins (compare Alma 32:13–14). The Lord will be exalted at this Second Coming because he will bring immortality and eternal life to the righteous (see Moses 1:39).
