The important truth here stated would not be known but for the Book of Mormon. True, Jacob, the patriarch, foretold in his dying blessing that Joseph, as a fruitful bough, would send his branches over the wall, and that his blessings would include the "utmost bound of the everlasting hills." In the Book of Mormon it is shown how this was fulfilled.
