“Remember the Words Which I Have Spoken”

Monte S. Nyman

The words of God that Jacob invited them to remember (v. 52) are certainly more than the two verses of Isaiah that he quotes on the Atonement. He speaks of the great covenants of the Lord, his condescension to make the Atonement, and the future righteous branch of the house of Israel (v. 53). The covenants of the Lord, specifically to Jacob’s people, were made with Joseph of Egypt (2 Nephi 3). The condescensions of God were shown to Nephi (1 Nephi 11). He spoke more of the righteous branch (2 Nephi 10) on the morrow as was discussed in the last chapter of this work. He desired his people to search all of their scriptures, and we should do the same.
