The rejection of their Messiah caused the southern kingdom or the nation of Judah to be “scattered,” “smitten,” and “hated.” Such was to be their lot until that time came when once again they “come to the knowledge of their Redeemer,” after which, it is here promised, it will be their right to return to the lands of their inheritance.
It is well to remember that, as the blessings of the Almighty are not the exclusive province of one tribe, neither are the cursings. Again, it would be shortsighted to suppose that this promise was fulfilled in the Jews alone.
