“Did Seek in the Wilderness for Beasts of Prey”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Nephi’s denunciation of the Lamanites does not focus on hunting “wild animals” (D&C 89:14) from which they would obtain both meat and clothing. Rather his attention is centered on their hunting “beasts of prey.” Apparently they killed for sport, a practice strongly condemned in the scriptures (see JST, Genesis 9:10-11).

“They Were Healed by the Power of the Lamb”

This description is similar to that of the angel who spoke to King Benjamin: the Lord would “go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, . . . and curing all manner of diseases. And he shall cast out devil, or the evil spirits which dwell in the hearts of the children of men.” (Mosiah 3:5-6.)
