Again, the brothers seek the life of Nephi. As a parallel to the life of Joseph of Egypt, his brothers “conspired against him to slay him” (Genesis 37:18). As Zoram, Sam, Jacob, and Joseph stood by Nephi (2 Nephi 5:6; quoted below), so Reuben, the older brother of Joseph of Egypt “delivered him out of [the older brother’s] hands” (Genesis 37:21). However, Joseph of Egypt recognized that it was God “that sent me hither” (Genesis 45:8). We will now see how God intervened in the life of Nephi.
