How was Lehi related to Joseph who was sold into Egypt?

Thomas R. Valletta

Joseph who was sold into Egypt had two sons: Ephraim and Manasseh (see Genesis 48:4–5). Lehi learned from the brass plates “a genealogy of his fathers” and “knew that he was a descendant of Joseph” (1 Nephi 5:14). Later, Alma stated that Lehi was a descendant of Manasseh (see Alma 10:3).
