Verse 28 marks the beginning of the patriarchal blessings Lehi gave to his sons, which continue through 2 Nephi 4:11. According to the context, Lehi’s first blessing was that he and his seed had “obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands” and if they “shall keep [God’s] commandments, they shall prosper upon the face of this land” (2 Nephi 1:5, 9, 31–32).
