“Hearken, O Ye House of Israel”
Only that part of Israel who hear the voice of the Lord’s prophets will be a part of the latter-day gathering. The prophet and those ordained under his hand are “called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect,” the Lord said, “for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts.” (D&C 29:7.) To Joseph Smith the Lord said: “This generation shall have my word through you” (D&C 5:10).
