Nephi’s concern that Laman and Lemuel’s actions might call down Yahweh’s wrath suggests that the brothers were also manifesting disrespect, and perhaps blasphemy, to Yahweh. His chastisement, however, rekindles their hatred. They continue to see Nephi as usurping their birthright—the leadership of the family. They do not hear his concern for their welfare, but rather his presumption.
