The ceremonial mourning being over, the slumbering rebellious disposition was awakened. They murmured. They began talking of returning to Jerusalem. (v. 36)
This was an opportunity for Laman. He promptly proposed to condemn both his father and his brother Nephi to death (v. 37), on the ground that they were plotting the destruction of the company (v. 38).
The Lord himself, in some miraculous manner interfered on behalf of his servants. Their lives were saved, the rebels were humbled, and the blessings of the Lord were again enjoyed. (v. 39)
