Nephi now summarizes what their father had taught them. He had said that their apostate descendants would be driven and persecuted by the Gentiles at first and then the gospel would be given to the Gentiles and they would give it to their descendants who had survived the purging by the Gentiles.
“From the Gentiles Unto the Remnant of Our Seed --”
With the vision of 2600 years fresh on his mind Nephi stressed the two things that were most impressive to him. First there would be centuries in which their own descendants would apostatize and drift into barbaric darkness and secondly that is when God would restore the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Gentiles who would come to the promised land from Europe.
