How “much” of the Lord’s gospel is contained in the Book of Mormon?

Thomas R. Valletta

“The Book of Mormon contains the ‘fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ’ (D&C 20:9) … and of the principles of that gospel (faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, endurance to the end, resurrection, and judgment (3 Nephi 27:13–21; D&C 76:40–42). … The Book of Mormon does not contain—nor does it claim to do so—the fulness of gospel doctrine. … Rather, its stated purpose is to bring men and women to Christ, to center their attention in the God of Israel” (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary, 1:102).
