behold saith the Lamb of God after that I have visited the remnant of the house of Israel and this remnant of which I speak is the seed of thy father wherefore after that I have visited them in
judgment and smitten them by the hand of the Gentiles and after that the Gentiles do stumble exceedingly because of the most plain and precious parts of the gospel of the Lamb which hath been
kept back by that abominable church which is the mother of harlots saith the Lamb [where fore 0|wherefore >js NULL 1|wherefore A| BCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST] I will be
merciful unto the Gentiles in that day
Here Joseph Smith removed the second wherefore, probably because it adds nothing more to the wherefore (listed as 1) that occurs earlier in this complex sentence. Nonetheless, such
repetitions of wherefore are helpful in bringing the reader back to the original point and keeping track of the main idea. Here is a similar repetition of wherefore that has not
been removed from the text:
- Nephi 2:18
- and because that he had fallen from heaven and had became miserable forever he sought also the misery of all mankind wherefore he saith unto Eve yea even that old serpent
which is the devil which is the father of all lies wherefore he saith partake of the forbidden fruit and ye shall not die
Summary: Restore the repeated wherefore in 1 Nephi 13:34, which helps the reader recover from the long preceding subordinate clause.
