God's mercies were abundant. The Almighty One would not allow the seed of Nephi-even those mixed among the seed of Laman-to be destroyed. The Gentiles, even though they would scatter and abuse the seed of Lehi, would not be allowed to extinguish that precious seed from the earth. God had covenanted with the ancients that the seed of Joseph would not ultimately be destroyed, for many of them would hearken to the scriptural record of their fathers, that which would become the Book of Mormon (see 2 Nephi 3:23). Further, because of the coming forth of “other books,” the Gentiles would not remain forever in the awful state of blindness precipitated by the actions of the great and abominable church on the Bible.
