The Holy Ghost (Mormons also use the term Holy Spirit or Spirit) here temporarily takes the appearance of a man in order to converse with Nephi. In addition to this guise, Christian scripture also records the Spirit taking the form of a dove (Mark 1) or of fire (Acts 2). Mormons believe that the Spirit is the only member of the godhead to not have a physical body; the Father and the Son both have glorified bodies of flesh and bone.
