“The Dwindling of the Jews in Unbelief”
Jews, like any other people who reject the true Messiah and his everlasting gospel, will eventually dwindle and perish in unbelief. The Jews of the first century would deny and put to death the custodian of the waters of life, and, with many of their posterity, would thereafter come to know and feel the pains and agonies of an unquenchable thirst in the midst of a desert of their own making. Though Roman soldiers carried out the hellish edict of their governor and were directly involved in the crucifixion of the Master, it is to the feet of the leaders of the Jews who plotted Christ’s death that the Father laid the blame for the foul and blasphemous deed (see 2 Nephi 10:3; JST, Luke 23:35.)
